Jocelyn Pickering, Peter Davies and Elenoa Bole new members elected to AFRL Board.
The AFRL held its 2009 Annual General Meeting last night at Mascot RSL with 3 new members elected to a 10 man board. Jocelyn Pickering was voted in as Secretary replacing interim Secretary George Tonna who managed to retain a place as a board member with Peter Davies and Elenoa Bole the other new comers to the board.
Re-Elected Chairman James Pickering called for the newly elected board to meet next Wednesday at Mascot RSL at 7pm and also spoke to those in attendance at the AGM about the importance of driving AFRL memberships this year.
“I think as our Treasurer Chuck Driscoll spoke of in his financial report, the need for us to drive our membership in 2009 is vital. Membership is the back bone of all footy clubs and that is the area we need to grow in. We had a great year with sponsorship and we want to look to renew those partnerships that we have forged and also look to grow our sponsorship family also.”
The AFRL also confirmed last night at its AGM that an official proposal has been sent to the FNRL regarding staging an annual fixture between the Australian Fijians and the Fiji Residents as an official selection trial for the Fiji Bati team to take part in the 2009 Pacific Cup with the winner of that to take part in the Quad Nations Tournament involving Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain. A decision will also be made next week in regards to all coaching and staff positions at the first board meeting with Interim Coach Daryl Neville favourite to get the job.
