Australian Fijians announce Major Sponsorship with Air Pacific
The AFRL is proud to announce a new major sponsor with iconic Fijian airline Air Pacific. The official announcement was made at the hugely successful AFRL fundraiser “Tropical Passion” that was held at Mascot RSL on Saturday June 27.
AFRL Marketing Manager Steve Driscoll officially made the announcement to the 200 plus crowd that attended the AFRL function and the official 2009 playing strip to be worn by the Air Pacific Australian Fijians was unveiled to the crowd also.
Air Pacific Business Development Manager Mereani Niquila addressed the crowd at the function and expressed Air Pacific’s delight in the deal that has been struck between the two organizations.
“I speak on behalf of everyone from Air Pacific and particularly our Regional General Manager Victor Sharan who cannot be here tonight by saying that we are truly excited and honoured to sponsor this wonderful organisation. The AFRL has really come of age in the last two years with its professionalism and its dedication to fostering young Fijian’s playing rugby league here in Australia. Although this will be the first year we have come on as Major Sponsor I know that it is the vision of both Air Pacific and the AFRL to forge a long term relationship and grow together.”
AFRL Marketing Manager Steve Driscoll said that securing this deal with an iconic Fijian brand such as Air Pacific is just reward for all the work and success that the AFRL has experienced over the last two years.
“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t ecstatic about this deal. When you think of Fiji you think Air Pacific and that sort of branding is what we want people to think of the AFRL here in Australia. We’ve held discussions with Air Pacific before but for whatever reason we have seemed to stumble at the last hurdle. We make no secret of the fact that having them on the front of our jerseys has been our goal and to have that finally happen is very satisfying. Our next goal is to work with Air Pacific in growing Air Pacific’s sales and branding through the AFRL’s network. We have got the wheels in motion already with the launching of our 2009 playing strip designed by our apparel supplier Kooga and also by announcing we will be taking a touring party of 27 players and staff to Fiji to take on the Vodafone Fiji Residents in the Battle of the Bati series to be held on September 30 and October 3. These are really exciting times for the AFRL and once again thank you to Air Pacific for joining our family of sponsors.”
The AFRL will be announcing an official supporter’s package for those who wish to travel to Fiji for the Battle of the Bati series in the coming weeks.
