AFRL Sponsorship Officer Steve Driscoll is truly over the moon about the deal. "This an exciting time for the AFRL. Our goal when the board was elected in November 2007 was to send a team of up and coming Australian based Fijians on a tour to England to try and open up some opportunities for our boys abroad. This deal with Flight Centre will now ensure that this tour goes ahead and negotiations are under way to play matches against Leigh Centurions, Rochdale Hornets and Oldham Roughyeads."

The deal was brokered between Driscoll and Flight Centre manager Kurt Hufer. Mr Hufer sees this as a great opportunity for both parties and is hopeful this is the start of a long affiliation between Flight Centre, Coogee and the AFRL. Hufer said " I was very impressed with the people involved in the organisation and the direction that it is heading in. The proposal put to us was very professional and through this we see a great opportunity to gain some exposure for Flight Centre as a brand and an opportunity to get some exposure and good results for our Flight Centre Coogee store.

AFRL Chairman James Pickering said at the announcement last night:

"Flight Centre Coogee have now made possible for us and our players to achieve what we set out to do at the end of last year. We see this as an opportunity to forge a long term relationship with Flight Centre. Through this deal now we can provide our players, both junior and senior, opportunities in Rugby League that they may never have been given the chance to do and at the same time help give Flight Centre Coogee some good exposure also. For this we are truly greatful."

Hufer was present at Souths Juniors last night to officially announce the new sponsorship, discuss travel details amongst officials and players and launch the 2008 merchandise range.
